  • Got a sea hunter mk2coil pinouts?

Hi all won an auction for sea hunter mk2 controlbox so JFSAG whats the pinout for the coil as it seems to have four pins whilst it is known ( from on here) that only 2 are used as its a monocoil (which i don't have or i'd measure it with the inductance meter) any one got the pinout and or coil measurements (uh ohms) as i want to play but the coils are 3 times what i paid for the box so........need to make one!

Just use what ever the Box is wired as. On my XL500 is just Single Pair of wires not even shielded. The XL200 has the shield tied to the Ground of the Pair. The 200 uses + Zero - .

Thanks just not sure as don't want to mess with pulse of 100+ volts (fried a cheap ebay oscope recently as only good for 50volts sniff) and box is still sealed so just be easier to see a pinout

            Cool.
Seems the markII has two coils in the coil housing. Be CAUTIOUS how you deal with this. Be nice if you could see back of connector in the box to be sure. The last thing you want is to short out the circuit. That would be disastrous.

Look here sea hunter coil is cheap. Maybe you should just buy one and save yourself some time. Building your own coil with proper shielding, waterproof etc. Is not so easy.

Thanks bud but i only payed £50 for it and the equivalent over here on pondscum island is £110 for 10"x14" or £80 for the 8" hence my research, box is fine though still sealed up and looks kushty.

Meh makes no diff now, noticed the retainer screw was missing in battery compartment so just popped the board out for a looky and its like they let a monkey loose with a wood burning iron, even aside from the obvious salt water corrosion around the processor chip (which is recoverable ) they had tried to demount some smd's with an iron set to about 500degrees (must have been glowing) i know it was spares or repairs but might could have said they had had Clyde take a look at it first.
                      Budgerigars its fried.

Although I was watching that one to see how much it sold for (£48 + £5.95 postage) I purposely did not bid due to it being microprocessor-based. Seems like I did the right thing. I'm always suspicious when it says "UNTESTED CONTROL UNIT. SPARES OR REPAIR ONLY". You can bet it's a dud.

sniff i wished i had followed my instincts but it was a what if its a nice one job cos i wanted to assess its purported discrimination capabilities as one of my main drivers at the mo,cos so close, i can see the returning pings but still can't reliably differentiate (cept on the natty pocket oscope) never mind live and learn and the pots and that are cushty so will get cannibalised so not a complete loss just a little dissapointed.

Bad luck it was such a dud, you should be able to salvage a few parts from it
                            purported discrimination capabilities
, its more ELIMINATION than discrimination capabilities, along the lines of this graphic.

I have a seahunter and they work ok, garrett sales have plummeted here in Australia since they stopped their internet resellers selling direct to Australian customers and force us to buy from the "official" importer, so we boycott all garrett products

Garrett are not helping themselves here either as the market is now flooded with very good (spot on in fact) chinese copies especially of the Ace250 which is a very light and capable machine for most uses.
Just a shame is all, so summat else will just have to live in its shell and use its control gear etc I shall call the new model the Hermit Crab MK4
