  • Which is better

Hi everyone, someone made the experience of assembling 20 "coils using an 8-wire telephone cable turn to achieve a winding of 12 turns (270 uH) or arm with two turns of 6-pair UTP cable to achieve a winding of 12 turns, which would be more sensitive? No self-induction occurs when the cables are run in the UTP ?.
    Thank you
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos
I made several coils with Cat 5 cable four pairs, with 2; 3; and 4 turns, according to the size and inductance of the coils, for use in the Delta Pulse.
    All worked well.
I think the difference in using fewer pairs and more turns is the lower capacitance, because of the additional insulation. It can be beneficial, if you are looking for shorter delays.

Hello everyone, today in the morning I did a test with a 33cm elliptical coil. x 53 cm. winding two turns of UTP cable of 4 pairs. temporarily carry out the welding of the cables in a random way since they come braided in pairs, the result of the inductance was disastrous, I think it measured 45 uH.
Then make the welds of the cables neatly respecting the continuity of each pair of cables. Once the 7 connections were completed, the inductance was 325uH. Later I will make the connection to the detector and see the waveform with my oscilloscope and the sensitivity of the coil.
