  • Square inductance caluclation

    Hello,

    Is there some way to calc the inductance of a square coil?

    I need to build a coil with these values:
    Size about 800x500mm
    5.1Ohm
    3.60Mh

    Maybe someone around here know which wire thickness i need and how many turns.

    i had answered on this question. calculate perimeter, C. calculate radius R as if you do round coil.
    R=C/2pi=C/6.28
    calculate inductance or how many turns etc by a soft.

      Sorry i don't understand what you mean there.

        1) calculate the perimeter of your square coil
        2) Use Perimeter = 2*pi*R to calculate an 'effective circular radius' for your coil
        3) Use the radius R in a coil-calculator program, such as the one on this forum.

        Allow for the fact that your square coil inductance will be 2% lower than the equivalent circular one - probably not important for a PI machine.

          OH GOD! GIVE TO THOSE PEOPLE THE MIND..... AMEN!

          perimeter - 80x2+50x2=260cm
          R=260/6.28=xxxx

          etc.

                if does not exist then why the degradation and involution of Homo Sapiens Sapiens? the gods are in a centre of Milky Way amigo.

                      Hello! Is it possible to build a fast frame coil 1×1 m, for early sampling, to discriminate smaller finger sized objects. My homemade arduino controlled pi machine has 20microsec first sample delay, discriminating well 10×10cm objects and i see perhaps 6-8 microseconds need to discriminate them. A 8 vire normal cable is too slow.

                        do you use color graphic display in your project? how much samples you measure?

                          not colour - 2×16 lcd. 3 sample : 1.: 20microsec, 2.:220microsec, 3.: 2000 microsec
                          100Hz
                          24v Vds
                          300micH coil

                            Earlier i drive with arduino a 24v Delta pulse. It has very large depth sensitivity, but not disc. Now my machine has good disc for big objects, but it has TX and RX coil, and the depth sensitivity smaller than that 24v delta pulse. Now i try build frame monocoil for large depth and better disc.
