AdBlock plus is Firefox add-on? I noticed some strange things happening to my browser for instance new page opens up for unsolicited advertisement when I click on something. Maybe I need to update.

Not just Firefox, but also Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari, Yandex Browser, and Android.

Don't use Adblock Plus, they sold out and allow some ads through and may sell your surfing info as well.

Use uBlock Origin, they have versions for Firefox and Chrome.

You can block all that in the settings menu:
Block additional tracking
Block social media icons tracking
Untick "Allow acceptable ads"

Never seen the issues you all are talking about using FireFox. FireFox has gone somewhat SUCKY . Loads up and craps out if you do much searching like I do. Keep needing to refresh it all the time. Chrome lets some stuff through.
