Large coil fpr PI detector

I was just curious if anyone has ever tried a large coil with the Surf PI board ? I was thinking a coil of 1 meter or larger square ? How was the over all performance if used? Good Hunting Jim

surf is motion det. with 1m coil you need true non-motion/static one. ie deeper schematic.

Thank you KT315 for your reponse, but lets take this idea a bit farther, make a coil out of plastice pipe of similar material, hang it off your shoulders an walk around searching. Just thinking a bit outside the box. I know I would never seen the great operation of a basket weave coil using Litz wire if I had not constructed the coil., Take care all Jim

You can make a 1m coil for the SMPI. But you will need to slow down the SAT speed considerably. It does not have to be static/zero-motion but it does need to be slow.

Put large circular coil around the hip region and do "hoola-hoop" motion with wasteline while walking forward with steady pace, then you can use motion machine, no problems.
