Detech coil read this on their site,so is it the coil that makes the difference in how a PI works

Detech is the first to build coils with magnetic sensors,
enabling pulse induction detectors to discriminate between
ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Looking for a way to discriminate on the MPP E. I am thinking about buying the kit and building the Version E. Would a better coil make the difference in ground reject, and find smaller nuggets or gold.
So a better coil would make the MPP better for ground searching for nuggets.

Interesting concept but does it work well enough to ID small nails as ferrous?

Here is a person who has a small plastic screw to change the shape of the coil a little and he shows how his meter or scope moves,
maybe something like this, only watch until 9 minutes into the video, and up to about the 11 minute mark. Unless you want to watch more of course, this on a TGSL he made i presume

Detech isn't the first, someone did this years ago in Australia. As I recall it worked but wasn't very effective, the mag had very limited depth compared to the PI. Even Detech says "shallow ferrous targets."

Even my goldmaster vlf had an iron discrim toggle switch but as you, said anything deeper than a couple inches wasn't very good, but most of the sub-gram nuggets here in Az arn't deep, because they are deposited from run off, and don't go very deep because there's not enough constant water flow to drive them deeper. But with my Goldmaster could find sub gram nuggets at a couple inches. I have to test my Tesoro Lobo (original, not super traq)here in the desert to see, have not taken it out yet. It has discrim and runs at 25khz. My goldmaster ran at 48-50khz. I was just thinking a PI version E i could use in an area if i found a few flakes with my vlf that the pi would go deeper and maybe find anything bigger in the same area that my vlf missed.

Did anyone look at the video i posted of the person that has a plastic screw in the side of coil housing and changes the shape of the coil and the frequency il say but that might not be the right term. Was thinking maybe a way to adjust the coil to ignore the ground some.

The video is for adjusting the Null & Phase of an IB coil for the TGSL (a VLF) detector.
This has nothing to do with Ground noise or changing frequency.
