  • 3D coil frame design request

So I had an idea about a coil frame for Pulse Induction detectors that's relatively easy to create in 3D software (for someone with skills) and even easier to wind the coil wire into a flat spiral shape.
I made a basic design but I don't have enough knowledge (or proper software) to actually make it the way I want to, so this is a (really) basic design and the details will be discussed on this thread.

So I'm asking if anyone has the knowledge to step in and help so everyone can print a coil frame in their home 3D printers.

The main goal is to create a coil head that has an opening between the top & lower plate that is the exact millimeters with the wire that's going to be used (i.e 0,75mm or 1mm).
Of course the coil frame should be broken into 4 pieces that could be joined together (in a puzzle-type joint system between the parts) so it can fit in any home 3D printer and assembled altogether once the print is done.

This is the basic design I came up with (so you can get an idea of the "concept"):

So you want two flat plates with a spacer ?

Well something like that, the above pictures are an oversimplified version of what I'm thinking.
I already done the model in Sketchup so I thought I'd use these photos as an example, it's not that I want the exact design on practice.

Of course as a frame there must be some points to attach the harnessess to and a slot to begin and end the coil windings.
Once someone is up to the task I will hand-draw the details which include ski-type "feet" so you can drag it around and adjust the height from soil to coil etc.

Most of the stuff that I'm thinking about this project are really simple for someone who can design way more complicated things than this.

i have designed several coil shels for 3d printing, can you deliver a good sheme with some dimensions and nummers etc.

so i could draw a bit

This sounds like an interesting idea however I am not seeing the pictures that you are referencing. Thanks.

The images are on the first post (#1) of this thread and are embedded inside my post, not as a link.
However if you still can't see them, here are the links:

Nice mate, I will hand-draw the scheme on a paper (i really suck at MS paint lol) with dimensions etc. If you previously designed coil housings this will be a piece of cake for you.
