I have an approx 9 inch mono coil attached to my Mini Pulse Plus my question is with the connections on the coil now that it is sealed up are the Rx and TX connections inter changeable example swap the coil winding start for the coil wiring ending finish, the reason i ask is that i am getting approximately 6 or 7 inches on Australian 20 cent piece not 12 inches or more as in the build instruction information page 19 with a Victorian penny unless these pennies are much bigger than Australian 20c or composed of much more reactive materials i am looking for more depth . However my detector does pick up reinforcing steel in the concrete floor here at home at 12 ,13, or 14, inches approximate guess i am wondering if it is worth changing connections over at the control box end to hope fully improve the depth , don't know if this will work or just waste time. what do you think. are they inter changable does this have an effect on performance ?. Assuming you have shielded the coil then if the connections are backwards you will be driving the shielded side which can make a difference. So it may be worth a try to swap the connections. -
Thanks Carl-NC tried swapping over connections from winding start and finish and is seemed to help get a little extra height approx an inch or so, be handy to know which start or finish of coil was used for the earth connection then this would help with any further projects as i could just connect all three wires including the screen wire but at this stage being sealed up i can't tell. I may try to build another coil possibly a basket weave coil if i can work out how to do it in the future. please let me know if you know which side should be earth connection of the coil start or finish.
