  • help tonew coil for tgsl

friends my question is if I reduce the size of the tgsl coil by half to look for gold nuggets if I have to increase the number of turns to double?

The coil for the TGSL needs to have the correct Inductance on each to properly work.
Use the Coil Calculator at the top of this 'coil' sub-forum to determine number of turns needed.
Then when you build the coil measure the Inductance and/or measure the frequency they oscillate at while connected the the TGSL's TX circuit.

I did build a 10 inch DD coil and an 8 inch Concentric coil for the TGSL. Both work well, the 10" has a wider sweep width but the 8" sees smaller targets so both have a purpose.

Check instruction on TGSL coild build here:
    https://sites.google.com/site/dbcoil...home/resources

Also in the TGSL threads is more info.

thanks..i did it with a 5 inch diameter coil calculator from the forum with tx coil 134 turns wire30awg...and rx 2 inch 263 turns wire 30..bx coil 34 turns...but it didn't work well. .. I don't have the indumeter... I think it is. out of inductance

Connect each coil the the TGSL's TX oscillator circuit. Then adjust the number of turns be obtain the correct frequency. Don's TGSL 101.pdf explains this and what frequency each coil should oscillate at. This is the start.
Next is adjusting the number of turns on the Buck Coil to obtain the correct NULL. Dons explains this is his concentric coil build doc.
