I found this forum after searching around a little. I would like to try to make a 18" DD coil for a whites goldmaster 4b, Where Do I Start??? I can come up with a jig to wind the wire on a drill cress or lathe, How do I determine the size of wire and number of wraps? I was thinking of mounting the coils to a fiberglass plate then making a cover that just goes over the wires. The 4b is a 50 Herts detector and mine does not have a dd coil already.

I will be tearing it a part to measure the caps, resistors and coil inductance s. I will put up pics of this and the build. The coil is a DD.
Thanks

whites goldmaster coils
You will need an lcr meter to measure the original coil's inductance and capacitance.
Until I can get my stuff up, here search this forum for the subject matter. There are many sound descriptions of the process. Look for building coils in general.
This will help you prepare for building your coil.
