  • 3 to 1 rate coil

Hi. I want to build a mono coil with dimensioms 3m x 1m for faster scan. Does anyone has any curves (maybe Eric, Reg or KT315) to see how change the sensitivity between center and the end of the coil because i am afraid that the sensitivity at the end will be poor.

Build a miniature version of the coil, say, 30cm x 10cm. It should have about the same sensitivity pattern.

    3m? Really? Wow.

      Dig deep

      3M x 1M coil?
You will need a Back-hoe to dig up your signals.

The sensitivity will be flat until you get to 0.5m of either end, then it will drop off. So for a 3m x 1m coil, you have a 2m width with a constant detection range. The fall off at the end is similar to that from the centre of a 1m square coil, to the edge. If you want the full 3m scan width, then you want to make a 4m coil.

        Eric.

Eric and Carl thank's. I"ll try to build it maybe next week. I believe that with 8 turns i"ll take an inductance about 350 μH.
