Does anyone know of a simple way to change a loop frequency, and make an adapter so that loop can be used on a different make of detector?

Interestingly enough, there is a make of Chinese detector that uses a VERY NICE 10" spider coil potted in resin. Tests I've done show these to have excellent balance (eletrically). I'm trying to hack one onto a Tesoro as they only cost $25.
What I'm doing is putting tuning capacitors across Tx and Rx coils to make them operate at lower frequencies (they are untuned and so work at around 35KHz without any caps) I think this will affect the balance a little, but the results would be promising for anyone trying to build their own machines as I could sell the coils on here (with Carl's permission) for what they cost me.
