  • Rustoleum Cold Galvinizing paint

Hey guys I was checking out my local builing supply store and ran across this Rustoleum Cold Galvinizing paint, it's 93% zinc. I was wondering if this would work for shielding. Any thoughts.

Also what about Plasti-dip to seal the coil, they have it in clear.

I checked into plastic dip a while back and found it to be expensive, took a long while to dry, and multiple coats were needed. It is unknown if shielding paint will stick to it. Scan down for my post on liquid spiral wrap, there is a dip seal plastic that is dirt cheap, coats to the proper thickness in a single dip and is dry and ready to shield in under a minute. Shielding paint also sticks very well.

Yup, I read your piece on Dip Seal and went to their web site but there was no mention of price.

Call and ask for a free sample, they sent me 5 pounds of the stuff for free which is enough to do perhaps 100 coil windings. I think 10 pounds cost like $20.

          Zinc for shielding

          Hi Large,

could you measure the conductivity, when applied to a plastic substrate?

          Thanks for the input.

Charles, any thoughts on the cold galvinizing paint as a shield.

They sold me 5 lbs. for about 3.00 a pound. It would have been $2.43/lb. if I purchased 10 lbs.
