  • Garrett GTI 2500 coil problems need help

    Neeeed heeeelp,
few days ago I was very happy and proud owner og Garrett GTI 2500
with Scorcher search coil. But than something happened. By awfully
mistake I trampled my search coil with the car by driving backwards,
trying to move the car from the place, but forget in the moment
that I left metal detector and search coil, such as some tools behind
the car. But luckily only search coil become victim of that horrible
mistake. Garret GTI was saved by the few inches...Now I do have
serious problem.I need a search coil.Since I am not at the moment able
to buy a new one, because of the lack of money and the fact that there
is no any metal detector store here in Serbia (good starting point to
think about openin' one here), and the nearest is abroad somewhere in
Germany, I am pushed to try to repair the broken one I have. The windings
are fine, but the connecting point on the case of search head where cable
from instrument lead in the case is totally destroyed.Very carefully I
opened broken case, and step by step managed to review the hole coil
assembly. But at the end I still could not dispute the points of some
connections with the cable. In the attachement I send a very rough
diagram of the present situation. Now when I connect coil with the
instrument and switch it on, nothing happen. Instrument is acting
quite normal , but there is no signal from or to coil. I guess I made some
mistake in connection so now I am applying for any help. I am sure that
instrument is O.K., because my friend has the same model and I took
his search coil and try it, and it works fine.So the problem is only my
coil.Again the windings are well, I check them step by step, no breaks.
Only made some mistake when connecting cable from the detector.
I noticed a 3 coaxial cables in the main cable and 1 simple green cable.
Coaxials have stripes, one is red,one is blue and the last is hole white.
In the picture I draw my presupposition of conections. The blue coaxial
seems has no connection at all in the case, only it is connected in the
7 pole connector....or not !? The other two are connected but which
    way I am not sure....
So please....no...PLEASE !!!!! help me to conect it right...
Indebted and owing in advance ....
    Best regards !

        me again

I just found those patents.....But....It is Garrett...but the coil is not like mine.
Yes in the patent is a coil with two rx and one tx...But mine coil is Scorcher with one rx an one tx. Strange design, because Rx is smaller (not strange) and tx larger, but over tx there is some windings conented with inner rx. Maybe cancel coil, I am not sure. I have been seen a concentric coils usually with cancel coil connected with tx not with rx! So now I am confused, rx coil should be smaller inside the tx, and here is the case with some extra windings over larger coil connected with smaller coil. I am newbee here, i am not quite deeply interested about morphology of coils, only to solve my problem and connect my coil properly....But this design confused me, esspecially added two resistors 390 k and one c 470 nf on the strange way. And 3 shielded coaxials inside with 1 simple cable coated in master cable, conected very ortodox, mass shields of those coaxials are used not only for gnd but it seems 2 of them are used for providing some signal to/out of coils......c.c.ccc.!?!? Any way, the main point is how to repair the damage and connect properly those points...
Again thanks in advance and best regards..
