  • Whites to Compass coil?

I have a [email protected] DFX or MXT@14KHz should be not that hard to make the DFX coils work on the Compass?
I have the connectors and have tried tried different things,But no luck.
A friend of mine said that John Earl said a 22uf cap. on the white wire should work?
But are the wire colors the same on Whites and Compass? How can you tell without a scope?
If anyone would make a adaptor they could sure sell alot of them.......
    Thanks

Hi Ivconic . I have not tip for your question but a new question for you. If you check the schematic of classic III and Bandido they are about the same. Do you know who is better at the field ?? or who you love more???.
        Regards

          well...

I think Bandido should show better performances....but so far i like Classic iii much more....The truth is my Bandido is still just "naked" without box and proper coil, so i can not judge about that yet...
I tried few times to make Bandido coil but....Coils i made so far for it are working average, not better than Classic III so...so far no good results...
          I'll see...
Must be TLC272 i put instead MC33178 and TL22...I just can not find those in
          shops arround here....
About my question on Compass coils.....ha,ha,ha....It was just rethorical...
          best regards

I am a Compass distributor and repairer. Compass use TUNED coils, Whites do not. The MXT and DFX are WIDEBAND untuned coils, you will need to put a capacitor across the Tx and Rx coils to make them resonate at the frequencies you want to run the machine at.

              Hey Sean,
Are you still able to get Compass detectors? Here in the US they are no longer for sale.

No, they have stopped production due to poor sales.

I have a large number of new designs, and I did a deal with a large retailer ot drop ALL their existing detector lines (Minelab, Garrett, Tesoro, Fisher, and Bounty Hunter) in favour of Compass, with GUARANTEED sales of 50+ units per week, and a nice profit margin for all. I faxed AND phoned Compass, but got no response. They never seemed interested in promoting the company at all, so WHY did they bother taking it on if they had no intention of making a "go" of it??
