  • damping resistor for minlab coils

any one know the value of the damping resisitor for the SD series of minlab detectors .. wish to use one on the hammerhead ...
    thanks in advance

    Hi Gef,

I do not know the value of the resistor in the ML coils, but the resistor is only in the DD types. The mono coils do not have resistors in the coil housing, that I know of.

If you decide to use a DD coil, then you will have to modify the HH such that the receive circuitry is isolated from the transmit circuitry. There is a thread somewhare on this site that shows how to do this.

You will have to dampen the transmit coil or a mono coil with a resistor mounted on the HH. As for a value, you might start with a 500 ohm and work your way up in value. The final value will depend upon several factors including the shielding. I think I have about a 750 ohm in my unit.
