  • COIL REPAIR GARRETT

I have a Garrett Crossfire coil that looks like it was dropped hard on the side edge of the coil. The bottom is ok but the top edge has some plastic pieces missing and it is also cracked up in places. I really would hate to throw it away. Is there someway to repair this or to at least fill in the holes with resin or epoxy or something? Thanks Joe

Spoil a little bit white ABS in MEK (methyloethyloketone) and seal gaps. Don't use the resin, who is very fragile.

Mrand is right. I haven't repaired a coil, but my car-top carrier got a couple of holes punched in it from a hurricane a couple of years ago, and I cut some patches from plastic left over from detector coils, then melted some cuttings in MEK and "welded" the patches in. Worked great.
