  • Coil Tape?

As a newby, i am about to experiment making a large 30+in coil, my concern is with which tape can i use to wrap around the windings? and eventually the housing i have in mind will also need to wrapped up with this tape, i am in Australia, i have been looking into 3M Duct tape made from Polyethylene, there is a brand called Bear who's tape is made from PVC, does anyone know if any of these tapes will interfere with the EM field produced from the coil or if anyone has a better suggestion thanks?

You need to define what objects you are seeking and the searching environment. If searching in water you need to select tape and a coil housing that can keep the coil dry.

With more input from you, you will get more advice from forum members.

First you need to write for which device the coil. Impulse device or IB. If IB (inductive balance) there, the windings are not wrapped, but filled with epoxy. And you can wrap the impulse coil with any tape.

Probably none of the plastic tapes will interfere with the field. What is the purpose of wrapping the coil in tape?
