I remember the name Aquadag also. They had various mixtures. I bought direct from Acheson "Electrodag 112". Aquadag was water based, but so was the 112. Interesting the DAG meaning never knew what it meant.

Its kinda weird that the wiki doesnt mention Aquadags main ( current usage ) as a release and lubrication coating in foundry operations.
Sold in multi kilo drums ...

How about using graphite foil as an EMI coil shield ? Guys What do you think about it ?

What is this all for? There is a simple, proven method... Graphite + Polymer Adhesive

second your topic will 'Why my balanced coil is working bad? what so low sensitive to gold i get'. i had saw that 1000s times in the forum.
you ask - people answer - you do what you want to do. you do not wish to HEAR sugestions. so why you ask?

Hey ifrenide ... not to be rude but I think KT315 is suggesting you read the forum more widely ( especially the coil sections ) before you ask the question.

In summary there are two categories of shielding ..
              1. Faraday shielding ( electrostatic / electric fields - this is what you want on a metal detector )
2 Magnetic shielding ( you dont want this on a metal detector )

Yes manufacturers put a band of copper tape on transformers etc ( its to short out escaping magnetic fields as an eddy current ).

I use a 5mm x 5mm piece of copper tape as a target to test detectors .... putting copper tape on a coil even if you gap it will desensitise it. ( like piling targets on your coil ).

Graphite is diamagnetic and does block electrostatic fields and its lighter and does not corrode and its easier to apply and its cheaper than copper etc etc.

              just sayin ... moodz.
