CNC'd coil?

The PCB coil post brought up a question I have had. For the accuracy of a PCB coil with low impedance why not just laminate whatever guage copper you want to a substrate of your choosing and then CNC the coil out of the copper? Very accurate, any shape or design you wish, cheap and repeatable.

I have a CNC to do it if anyone wishes to play around with this idea.
