  • need help! how to make a double coil for p.i.

    hello,

i recently bought a homemade pulse induction and its package only with 4.5 by 4.5 feet coil. i want to build a smaller coil for pinpointing, round coil or maybe smaller square coil....i have seen so many designs of coil, the problem is i am looking for a double coil design, the antennae entry to the p.i. unit uses 3 connection...this are my questions.....how do i build a double coil antenna (for round and square), and how do i connect it to my p.i. ( 3 connection)?

    thanks

    hi,

got the idea alredy on how to make a double coil,,,,i figured out also then the connection on the coil.....thanks anyway for reading...

many thanks to gary! for his free pulse induction info on how-to...

hello, its me again....just want to know everybody that i made already my very first pulse induction dual coil, from no idea,....actually the link from carl website on dual coil design is what i followed, and i hit it right...since my background in electronic is very very basic.....just by research luck came to me....the simple dual coil is easy to make but not a good performer...soon i will make the coils like gary's....and im beginning to learn....test and test.

i came to conclusion that on dual coil design, just trace the grounding from the circuit, and its finnish.......the three connector fit.....the 2 input i guess can be interchanged, but not the ground....also i tested the coils with compass inside it to check the right pattern...

thanks to all for listening...good luck to all our projects!

        Hi
why do not you try this configuration.

        http://thunting.com/geotech/forums/s...ad.php?t=12264

in BFO and PI coils looks like each other.just turn numbers are different because of inductance value.
if there is something that effects dept penetrations which is related to coil configuration, you can increase dept by this winding.
in this config. penetration is 90cm for a nichel coin according to writter.
in normal bfo s it is 10cm or like that.
        it worths to try

          hi,

thanks for the reply.....about the link you gave....can u give me some specific.....i have very little knowledge on electronics.....pics of the finished coil maybe,,,,i am willing to make one of these coils......

          thanks again

            HI,

what are the values for capacitors 1 and 2.....what kind of capacitor...electrolytic of anything else...

            thanks

              do not you have PI?
              you will not need capasitor.
              just do coil windings
              you can do it circular.
two coil will be in series .so total L (inductance ) will be L1 + L2 = L total
.just be sure that total L value be between 300mH - 500 mH
you can find coil calculation program in internet.

I have not tyr this.waiting your result.
              good luck

                hi,

to the one who posted this link...
                http://thunting.com/geotech/forums/s...ad.php?t=12264

i made it already, the problem is i made only 30 turns for i am short of coils....anyway i tried it....using #20....on my first testing it doesnt work...i just reversed the orientation of the inner coil and bingo! i got a signal....when i tested it as compared to the overlapped dual-coil, this one performed much very well, the plier i have tested was detected at more than 12 inches....!...im greatful to you sir,....im planning to build it in 50 turns.....one thing i noticed is, there is a humming on the coil....a little much louder than the overlapped dual-coil i made previously....is it normal sir?....one more question....do you think i can make a bigger coil with this design...using 50 turn also..?

thanks for sharing......just posted this message coz i been to a field testing and detecting...

                peace!

                  hello,

what if i made a two coil that the total inductance value exceed the 500 mh....or below 300mh, what is the effect of this.....please enlighten me..

                  thanks
