  • TDI SL and Garrett 10 x14 Mark II

I want (maybe need) a bigger mono coil for my TDI SL that I have fully modified. I am running a 8x4 folded mono by Miner John with 4 Lithium batteries and have made all the modifications shared by Reggie.

My current goal is land hunting for deep, deep bullets. For us that is anything over 6 to 8 inches. Is there any reason not to buy a Mark II ($110) and change the cable end?

Being a water coil is it heavy? Is there anything about this coil that will prevent if from working with a TDI?

Any opinions are welcome. And if anyone knows the pinout for the Garrett coil I would appreciate it, if not I have the tools and skill to determine them.

    Thanks
    Fred

Somewhere I have a Mark II but can't find it right now. Mostly just make sure the inductance is between 250uH and 350uH. Also, some of their so-called mono coils actually have separate TX & RX windings, so check for that. It should still work on the TDI but the connector needs to be wired correctly. Personally I think it's a heavy coil.

      Thanks Carl,

I am going to order one ( 2215300) and will let y'all know how it goes.

        Carl,

Inductance on Mark II is low based on my measurements.

I measured my Miner John at 3.5R and 270uh.

        Garrett coil has 4 pins,
        Pins 1 and 3 1.4R and 105 uh
        Pins 2 and 4 1.4R and 105 uh

What should I expect if I hook up to TDI?

        Thanks,
        Fred

          I should add:

The two pair of pins (1+3 and 2+4) do not have a common ground or connection.
I don't know how to make one of the loops null or moot so I was going to use one loop as receive and the other transmit.
The connections should be 1+3 to 1+2 (rx) on the TDIsl and 2+4 to 4+5 (tx).

          Imput welcome,
          Fred
