        Sweet!

Nice looking coil, tell me about the coil housing. Did you V form it?
How about a report on performance and your thoughts.
Thanks for posting. looks like a professional job.

Thanks for the kind words Arnie. Yes I built myself a small vacuum table to make my own coil housings. As far as performance, I was very surprised with how well it works. I'm an ocean beach hunter for the most part, it's very sensitive to small gold jewelry and will see nickels and other coins 15+ inches. At 9 x 15 inches wide I thought that was pretty good. Cuts through the surf very well also.

          Thanks again!

            Very well!

That sounds pretty good. I need some help understanding the performance, so could you answerer a few questions?
The sov is what kind of machine, Vlf or Pulse?
How does the new coil perform over a stock coil or larger coil ?
I know you gotta be proud of it, but here is the tough question, Was it worth building, now that you have it and know how it works? Performance wise.

My congrats on the V forming. Is it a bivalve/clamshell- Top & bottom ? Epoxee fill or hollow? Kind of a project to V form if your not set up to do it every day. I think pictures of the process would help those who have never done it, but would like to. Did you use PVC for the plastic?
I sure like seeing people make things when there is a need and no one fills it, and homebrews as good as the "big boys". I wonder if the kids in school today get as much hands-on in shop classes as we had when I was a pup. The OO has caught my attention and looks like one I would like to fad-up, can you tell me if there are any guidlines this coil needs to follow in design?
Again hats off to you, for a fine job that looks every bit top shelf and not a little sexy.
            A.S.

              Wow lots of questions....LOL!!!!

The Sovereign is a multi-frequency vlf. As far as performance there is an increase in sensitivity and depth as compared to all factory made coils. This is an epoxied filled ABS shell, which is the easiest for me to work with. Now let me back up some. I have been building my own coils for probably a couple of years now. I also have a 15 1/2 x 12 DD that is by far the deepest seeking coil I have ever used. I'm at a point now that I pretty much know what will work and what will not as far as a Sovereign is concerned. Your machine will be different and only trial and error will show you if you can increase performance as I have with my machine. If you really want to try to build something yourself this site has lots of info if you look around for it.

              Thanks again,

              Bob

                THANK YOU

                Sounds like a winner.
In your opinion, how do you think the OO compares with a DD for performance. This may not be a fair question as all things are not equal, but I am wondering if the OO is a more ideal configuration verses a compressed DD.
Do you interweave the two windings or stack them? your thoughts please,
                A.S.
