I recently built a surf PI XX detector, it works acceptably, it detects on a 10" coil of about 25 cm for a gold ring and a 2.5 cm coin. I also built a 13 cm by 20 cm basket coil for it, but unfortunately it does not work, it has 1.5 ohm and 220 uH. please help, what did I do wrong? .

Why do you need a basket coil for the Surf-PI?
The idea behind this type of coil is to allow for earlier sampling, but you can already achieve 10us sampling with a standard coil.
Below 10us you will have a problem with ground response, and the Surf-PI does not have ground balancing.
A basket coil will not give you more depth.
By the way, the Arduino Nano PI (which is partly based on the Surf-PI) can detect a one euro coin with a definite signal at 33cm, and at 38cm with a faint signal.

thinking you did something wrong probably do not understand its construction. also, very huge problem of the misunderstanding is filling of turns by epoxy resine right on copper. this is most common case-problem of all DIY guys killing all advantages of the basket coil.

I had to turn my delay all the way up before it would register my side cutters at 7 inches.
I too wasnt impressed with the depth of field (tested with a pin pointer) compared to my plain jane mono 20 T of 235mm dia.
I used thicker wire, 0.85mm, so maybe it would have benefited by changing the damping resistor from the current 390R.
Anyhow, 195mm dia coil, 0.84 ohms at 313uH.
