That's the type of tape Eric Foster was experimenting with. I did a side by side test. One coil with Scotch 24 copper mesh and other EMI tape. The Scotch 24 seemed to affect the early signal less than EMI tape.

It probably depends on the type targets you seek. For gold nuggets, best to use carbon graphite. For beach, relic and large coils the metal tape is probably just fine and may help shield out RF interference.

Yes it is! I have had good results with this tape, Eric Foster tipped me off to this tape for which I am grateful.

Following Eric's recommendation, that's what I've been using for coil shielding.
I seem to remember buying it from eBay, but it's also available from Amazon ->

I also use it, even on gold PI designs that sample at 3us.

                Carl,

What are the coil characteristics that allow the coil to sample at 3us?

Low coil capacitance, but also a non-avalanching NMOS and a higher clamp resistor.

I just bought graphite tape. I don’t expect it to be so vulnerable so delicate, it's hard to wrap on coil. The tape was 0.5 inch wide, I ordered 0.5mm thick but it seem 1mm thick and it measure about 1-1.1 ohm for 30cm length, the longer tape resistance also increased. Here's some pics

It all seems like reinventing the wheel. Why do all this if there is time-tested graphite on varnish or polymer glue???

                        Hi,
I have made so many coils, I wanted the easiest way. Graphite is the best material, but polishing it takes quite a bit of time, but it turns out that this material is not as easy as imagined.

I understand. But I have never polished graphite. Is this for adjusting the resistance?

I use guitar shielding graphite and polished on 3D printed coil housing, but it took time,,, now I wanted quicker method to wrap graphite tape like the way Scotch 24 shielded. It can be done but with this tape is a gentle works, I think it will do just fine if I just need to be careful wrap this graphite tape

Thanks for the tip. I will give that a try.

Hello. Can you tell me if it is possible to solder the outgoing conductor to the conductive tape? or how best to attach the outgoing wire to the tape?. Thank you.
