Aquasound - DMC IIB coil

The Aquasound coil is difficult to construct, but not impossible.

Using the Rx mandrel dia 4.5", we start by winding the feedback coils. I use alcohol bondable magnet wire. The fb coils use #32 awg. Start at 3 o'clock wind 8 turns stop at 12 o'clock we now have 8.25 turns, make a loop of wire for the ct, wrap another 8.25 turns, stop when the 9 o'clock mandrel slot is facing up. Start and finish should have about 3 inches of excess wire. The CT is twisted and tinned to about 1" in length. Now wrap the Rx coil on top of the Fb windings. Start at 12 o'clock wind 168 turns of #32 pnbond finish at 12 o'clock. The Tx coil is made with #26 pnbond. The Tx mandrel is 9.375" in diameter. Start at 12 o'clock, wind 33 turns stop at 6 o'clock make a CT loop, wind another 33 turns stop at 12 o'clock. Remove from mandrel and unwind a 1/4 turn from the start and finish before the bond hardens. Let the both coils dry for 24 hours. More later

What method of shielding?

first of all you have to decide for yourself how you will do pre amplifier step-by-step. fully and precise data plan.

Here is additional info. The last coils I made were in 2018, and were shielded with Y-shield brand paint. The older units used Electrodaq 112, which is hard to find now.

Be aware that the Aquasound will not work if there is any iron minerals in the sand. People tried it around the world and it failed, it became a local cult detector here in South Florida, where there are no ferric oxides. This is the reason it is an obscure detector. A better project would be to modernize the DMC2B using this coil.
