VERY Large coil for a Whites 6000DI pro+

Hello, I'm a little new to coil design and function, so please excuse my newness if I ask a stupid question.

First off I would like to know if it would even be possible to build around a 5' square Search coil using pvc as a frame. I would like to know what its going to take to build this baby without burning up my machine of course. I have plenty of copper wire (multiple guages both stranded and solid)

The real question is- is this possible to build without burning up my machine. Am I going to need any resistors or something to keep it compatible? I'm I going to need an extra power supply of any kind? I'm looking to shoot for a depth of at least 3 and a half feet of penetration.

Any Help or tips would be GREATLY appreciated, searching for large pieces of Iron.

I want too make a 5' x 5' square pvc frame (152.4 Cm), but I need a mathmatic formula or some help to figure out what guage wire I need and how many turns its going to take.

I am thinking about getting a cheap detector to experiment with before I try anything drastic.

Any formula's or help of any kind would be appreciated.

You cannot build a PVC-framed coil for VLF (induction-balanced) detectors. They require carefully balanced coils that are rigidly fixed; they cannot flex at all. PVC-framed coils can be made for PI detectors.

For the 6000-pro, you can get a 25" coil from Jimmy Sierra. I have one, and for large targets it will probably go 3 feet.
