Depends on coils... depends on what you need... spiral has some advantages... but what's the purpose of using a 3cm rx coil with no damping resistor in a PI ? You need the damping effect to avoid oscillations...

Pike here... why do you need that stuff ?

    Kind regards,
    Max
Pike here is needed to search for my messages in "search", password recovery mail reaches me late and takes more than few hours and the next day i click the link the recovery expires, this issue which admin should see.

U have not given the advantages of spiral coil, damping resistors are there at Tx and Rx, and ur response is incomplete every time I post.

Puropse of Rx coil is to separate the Tx power lines from rx power Lines electrically.

      ???

The line above have no sense. If you need separate RX from TX electrically you just need circuit design that do this... not a smaller RX coil.
The smaller RX coil will get just fewer magnetic chained flux...so less magnetic interaction and less voltage on it's leads, no matter of coil topology in the circuit.

Spiral will give you advantages like reduction in capacitance between near turns, if you follow a special disposition , exposing minimal surface at sides... this way you'll get faster monocoil , for example, than with a common bundle of wire, so you could lower the 1st delay e.g. in a standard PI to get informations earlier and attempt some more reliable disc and small low conductive target detection (e.g. gold foil, small/thin gold stuff).
If you don't use the damping you'll get self-resonance freq. oscillations at switchoff + the influence of stray capacitance and other stuff that will lower it a bit... then you'll get lot of troubles approaching target detections this way.

Is the answer complete now ?

      Kind regards,
      Max

Still ur answer is incomplete , the shell material u didnt answer.....

U seem to be a hobby guy rather than a professional guy, how did u become a guru??? by pushing the keys and replying whatever comes in mind (let me tell u in laymans language, We seperate the lines electrically using 2 different pcb's one for Tx one for Rx,thus separating the noises from Tx. Just see the modifications in Twin Loop seeker....

U should be named as Key Pusher instead of Guru.

Who told you I'm a "professional" ??? TH is an hobby for me...

The shell ??? Separate the PCBs ??? pike here, you're just full of BS !

That's your problem... find a cloaca and jump in...

          Kind regards,

Sean Goddard or other professionals can understand better, separate the pcb's means use one board for Tx other for Rx with separate powers lines and 2coils Tx and smaller Rx coil and as soon as the Tx switches off, use a Rx reciever, use an opto for sampling as soon as Tx switches off, now I think its clear. Its u the hobby guys who are breaking up...

Pike, sanyo, sharky , what is needed to find treasure, is only to dig !

Hi Max and Elie ESA has identified an extra terrestrial cloaca specially for euro people has opened from other dimension jump in very fast, the time window is very narrow

Ah I see what Pike means.

I think a LOT could be done in the way of shielding parts of the circuit in cans (like is done in RF circuits). Use of star grounding techniques and multi-layer PCB's, and feedthrough filters / capacitors etc that ISN'T being done in beeper design, especially in PI's where frequencies extend (in real terms) into the MHz regions. I mean let's face it, ANYTHING that can be done to reduce noise, should be done don't you think?

Time for SOMEONE to vreate a reference design and we can all have a shot at getting it as quiet as possible (and I mean WITH the power turned on ). I suggest the HammerHead as a good starting point.

I'm going off topic here on a funny.. I see a LOT of people are using guns as their avatars . Max you said you like the AK as a logo, isn't that an MP5 or am I just being stupid (again).

                                I'm claiming the biggest at 8 X 380mm SK C/34 Cal. with a projectile weight of 800Kg and a range of 36.52km
