    hello folks

are coils interchangeable as long as the machine frequency is the same? i heard that the white's coil will work on a b.h. and that someone made an adapter for this, what if i can't find a adapter? what about other makes and models will this work as long as the frequency the same? i know u guy's make your own coils but i am not that tech smart. and just learning this stuff. thank for any help u can give......later

In general, the answer is no, it's more complicated than that.

The coil must have the same value of inductance, and there may be other problems, such as whether the tuning caps are in the coil or on the PCB. It will also depend on the type of TX oscillator being used. So, in this case, the coil configuration can also have an effect. This is not to mention the obvious one - does the connector pinout match?

This is not to say that's impossible. Coils can be adapted in certain selected cases, if you know what you're doing.

i figured that (intercangeable coils) was to easy. so if i make my own coils are they better or as good as 1's from the manufacturers. i won't even ask how do u build 1 thanks

This very much depends how good you are at building coils.

It is possible to build better coils, but if you're not sure what you're doing, then they will probably be worse. Don't let me put you off though. Even really expert coil builders had to start somewhere.
