  • Coil help needed for new comer

    Hi All

this is my first post on this site, so please keep in mind that I am new to all this

I have a sov GT, and I detect in the UK, mostly on farm land that has been farmed.

I fing that the sov GT is very slow so needs to be swung slow to give it time to read targets.

most of the good stuff in the uk comes from site with iron on the, not jusk modern iron, but old iron.

with the gt being so slow, when it nulls over iron, it cant recover in time to read a good target next to it.

I have tried many after market coils, but all double D,s. (tornado 10 inc, tornado 8 inc, coiltec platapuss, and joey) joey giving the best chance of reading a good target next to iron.

What I was thinking was to buy, have made, or try and make my self a concentric coil for this detector.

I dont know enough to make one really, nore do I know if it will help much.

    what do you guys say????????????

is there maybe an other way/mod I could do???????????

ps, sorry about spelling, am Dyslexic

Concentric won't help the slow response, but it can give you a smaller detection area for the same size coil and help with trash separation. Overall, I think the improvements will be minor.

that was my thinking, I would not speed it up, but it would help with spearation but still keep a better depth than useing a small eliptical coil.

as the sov uses multi freq, there is not so much need for the double D coil.

apart from detec, is there any one who makes a concentric coil for the sov???

        Yes!

Pulsar Electronics are their UK importer, but do not list anything on their website yet. I believe a new online shop is going live soon and the old repairs website is being taken down.

OOPS, no dude call ME the thicko. I gave you the link and they don't seem to do these coils anymore. My Bad .

They USED to do a very nice range of coils for the Sov.

I will talk to Plamen Rashkov (CEO of the company) and see what's going on.

APPARENTLY joan allen are selling some (more) rubbish called SEF (symmetrical Electical field) coils. This is TOTAL HORSESH*T. It's a DD coil and only ONE is the Tx, HOW can it be symmetrical? MAN those guys spout some bull. Any UK detectorist in the "know" won't buy from them, the only people they seem to sell to are noobs and gullible fools.

A perfectly balanced coil like the Nexus applied to the Sov would have some mileage, but apparantly these SEF coils are that, AND they claim a patent on it. Yeah in outer Mongolia RIGHT!!
