    Re: Coil winder

The Picture is mine. I forgot to add any text to the picture. This is my coil winder. The acrylic plastic is the form and the motor is a 12V DC geared driven. The form is the heart of the winder. It comes completely apart is pieces for easy removal of the coil and easy assembly. I will post more pictures later with explanation. Rick S

Pretty slick! It looks a lot like one I saw at a major manufacturer. They use aluminum discs and a software-controlled stepper motor so they can program in the number of turns and winding speed. Does a coil in about 20 seconds.

Here is a pic of the form in pieces. This is a 6" form that has been cut into four main pieces, so pulling the coil off the form will not miss up the coil. The nuts and bolts are 6/32 about 1" to 1 1/4" long. Spacing was enough so the magent wire cannot slip between pieces. The two outside parts are 5/16" dia. and the inside is what ever width you want. For this form it is 1/4". The thickness and size of coils forms can be what ever you want it to be. The motor is what I had on hand which was the motor I use for rod finishing(fishing) along with the wood form for holding rods. So I really only thing to make was a form and bolt it on. The shift is threaded to 6/32"ID. The new tool on the market called Roto-zip works like a router and is real good with acrylic plastics. Nice sharp clean edges.
I have up graded my coil winder by adding a spool holder and a counter. Spool holder made out of acrylic plastic and I used an excerise machine counter for my counter. Didn't cost much.
