  • Mini Coil for a Pinpointer

I am interested in making a pinpointer for metal detecting and i was wondering if anyone could help me in giving me plans an instructions on how to make the coil and possibly even the pinpointer. I was planning on making the pinpointer out of a metal finder called the "Little Wizard II." I would like to make a better coil for it than can just be attached. It has to be small so i can still use it as a pinpointer. Thanks to all. Here is a link to the detector that i was thinking about modifying and instructions to modify if with the coil that it comes with. I have no backgroud with coils so please be patient with me as i have no clue what i am doing. lol but i am willing to learn

If it were me, I would use the coil it comes with. I believe they use balanced bridges or some other balanced arrangement and making a coil is not trivial. I'm using a modified studfinder and get ~2 inches on a quarter, which is about all you want.
