I need a schematic of the cable wires to connector pins for a CZ5/7 coil? Anybody have one?
Re: I need a schematic of the cable wires to connector pins for a CZ5/7 coil? Anybody have one?
Rick,
I am not sure that this will help you or not. The Fisher CZ-5 and CZ-6 show the coil connected by cable colors. White is the hot receive wire and green is the receive ground. Green is also marked as being shield? Red is the hot transmit wire and black is the transmit ground which is also marked as shield.
The coil is a concentric coplaner so it must have two coils in series for the transmitter. This will be the main outer loop and a feedback or bucking coil which is placed over or around the receive coil in the center of the assembly.
As the design uses two frequencies (5Khz and 15KHz) there is no tuning capacitor on the transmit coil. Receive coils are almost never tuned as their resonant frequency drifts causing very bad phase errors. This coil is no exception and it is not tuned.
Be aware that the ground side of both the transmit and receive coil both connect to ground through capacitors. A direct connection to ground will crispy critter your detector, Dave. * * *
