  • Coil Inductance Test

Is there a SIMPLE method of testing the Inductance of a coil without elaborate testing equipment.
I have found calculators but i need to test inductance with limited test equipment.

    Cheers

There is a PC-based inductance measurement tool.

Pay attention: It's in devils language!

The easy way is to buy one of these:

Good PI Coil Inductance Meter Kit

Some time ago I posted a review of an LC meter kit that is very good for accurately measuring PI coils. It's maximum inductance measurement is up to about 150mH. See this link. http://thunting.com/geotech/forums/s...ad.php?t=11102

            Hi All,

            Thought this may be helpful.

I walked into an electronics store here in Australia yesterday & found this for $59.99AU---overseas buyer can take our tax of 10% off this price.
            http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.st...uct/View/Q1559

At the price, i purchased one walked around the corner & had the Inductance measure tested against an expensive Bench Tester at an electronics repair centre & it's on the money & is accurate, good value for the money & the range is excellent. The repair guy quickly went around there & got 2 of them.

When i returned home i calculated a coil for a Minelab, tested it, wound it & presto right on the money.

The meter is about 185mm x 85mm, made in Taiwan not china.

The link doesn't work properly. i.e. the inductance meter is nowhere to be seen.
However, if you type in "Q1559" into the search box, you'll find it.
