  • Tesoro H.O.T. coils?

Just for fun, I am interested in anyone's speculation on what Tesoro's "H.O.T. coil" technology is all about.

    Recepie is simple:
    make ordinary Tesoro coil.
Put it in oven for 20 minutes.
Take it out and you'll have HOT coil!
    So...piece of cake!

      this is nice !

Simon: I think it's just another label with no real meaning... "high output technology" or something...

I think are just like ordinary coils. Can't see where could arrive such higher output if not from a more powerful oscillator or a different preamp... and I really don't belive the secret of few depth more is truly at coils in this case, maybe at electronics... lower noise components and increased gain of some strategic parts like preamp...

Cause that coils are just for newer stuff... I think they manifactured with that label... or marketing name... as you want... just to let people belive there's something special about and probably isn't.

For example... when I bought my 9x8'' coil I expected that magic "detection bubble" appears from it ...like a fog... as advertised (really I don't... but let say here I was beliving in that magic ) but it didn't... and my 9x8'' works just like coils I've handmade... or , well, some my handmades are much better than it. What to say, if one belive in advertising, could belive in anything... also in Hung's claims about dynamite stuff and the jump from a rope with the candles in hand!

      Kind regards,
      Max

        Ok!

I thought maybe they put oscillator circuit on the coil, or other circuit, send pre-processed signal up the cable. Then wouldn't work with other detectors that take ordinary coil.

Has anyone measured one for inductance, resistance, resonance, etc?

          Tesoro H.O.T. coils ?

Hello , I think Tesoro spent so many years on improoving their detectors that they left the search coils alone. Now they are following the pack . Whites has new "300" search coils and minelab [last time I checked] added some new coils. I don't think Tesoro added electronics in the search coil housing , Just improoved the coil itself. If anyone hear's different please comment..........Eugene

So far it showed that Tesoro is making hell of good analogue detectors. I salute to that! Already have rich experiences with few models. Probably the best analogue detectors on market.
Yet..their coils are not following high level of their detecotrs.Pitty.
Proof for this is fact that we here on this forum did handmades and custom coils and got noticeable better performances than originals.
So...i am thinking Tesoro should offer us some contract on making coils for them, right?
They should continue with manufacturing great detectors and let us to do coils for those. Like Minelab and Coiltek...So?
            How about that?
Let's form a team and put formal offer...

I think H.O.T. refers to the circuit design used in the Tejon, Vaquero, and Cibola models, all of which are derived from the Lobo ST, which was designed by Dave Johnson. The coils for these 4 models are not compatible with all their other models (Bandido, etc). I'm sure there are no electronics in the coils, they're just designed with different inductances.

I believe H.O.T. stands for High Output Technology.

                  OK - I've found a reference to H.O.T.
                  Look here -> http://detectorsales.ca/page6.html
at the Vaquero and the Cibola.

I'm just scared "HOT" could be something related to Paris Hilton design or ads...

You know...she repeats always "this is really HOT!" ...everytime, don't know why... maybe this is the trick there... is their new coilmaker Paris Hilton!?

But problem is that everything she touch magically stop working... people included! So I hope they made instead really something good inside the new coils!

Just I'm "a bit" skeptic...after the "detection bubble" story...

                    Kind regards,

The only hint I saw was that the H.O.T. technology uses "sinusoidal coils". Huh?

I wonder if it something like this design I have been considering:

Awful drawing, but you get the picture. More lobes to make it rounder, etc...
