  • nexus' big coil question

    Hi all,
I'd like to know the exact diameters/dimensions of Nexus' coils, if someone knows that with accurancy.

    Kind regards,
    Max

Information is on the Nexus website -> http://www.nexusdetectors.com/SEaccessories.html
e.g. the 9" search head consists of 2x 9" overlapping coils.

      Hi Max,
      Have you seen this thread?

If you can dig between BS you may find interesting info.

Nexus coils are not nowel and quite trivial art. The hot spot goes a little bit deeper with loss of effective scan area. DD coils have wider scan area and are a combination of two different coils sizes. Thus these will detect also smaller targets. OO coils are lower sensitive to smaller targets but higher for bigger therefore.

When I have more time, I will show you some magnetic field simulations on nexus coils. Also the sensitivity map cross sections. Maybe a direct comparison to DD coils. But this is not really compareable due to different geometrics.

            Hi,
yes, I remember it... but problem is that someone claim the coil is a dual 20cm diameter OO, where seems, from website, are actually 9'' OO (so about two 22.5cm OO).

The difference is not unrelevant if you try to compare stuff... like I'd like to do with other OOs I've made (but smaller than that).

So thanks to Qiaozhi... who provided the right answer: just website have consistent data about real coils.

            Kind regards,
            Max

No - this is not the Nexus. The Nexus has an surface-mount PCB. This looks like a homemade Bulgarian design that uses a OO coil.

                  Hi,
ok, thanks... I was also thinking at some early development with normal components not smt. But it isn't... so it's probably a similar coil with older circuit... the bulgarian ones that uses OO coils.

                  Kind regards,
                  Max

Probably not an older circuit of the Nexus, but a completely different design.

Remember?Because I also made this PCB!And its the same. And this are Turkish guys which alweys clim that are good in this and only copy Geotech!
You can see for yourself! All TGS,DP,.....all.
The original Bulgarian cant be seen because it was made buy some old guy.

                          2. Circuit designer is Sascho
                          3. PCB is designed by myself
