  • X-terra-70 coils

Hello I was wondering if it would be possible to make coils for X-terra-70? The coils have their own frquencies, 3khz, 7.5khz, 18,75khz. If it is possible to make them, what type measuring and testing equipment would you recomend? Great forum you have here. I can't understand alot of the terms but I really enjoy reading how you folks do this. Thank you, seb1008

I just saw a video and the people from minelab said there was a microchip in the coil, so does this rule out making one?

      Hello,

I opened one those coils a while back and can confirm that there is a PIC microcontroller inside. The windings are straight forward double D configuration. Only a guess, the micro controller may have served as a serially programed trasmit oscillator and may have also switched parallel RX capacitors to match the TX frequency? Sorry I cannot give more details, but the person who owned the loop took it back. Probably not a good beginner's project.

Thank you for your help is there a way to translate that Russian sight? The Xterra is a mute point now, I just bought a brand new Minelab SD2100V2 . Now I have to figure out what testing equipment I need to make coil for it.

thinking in deep doubt you will find these photos useful. the coil seems like fully broken and simply a garbage. there is not a deep sense to translate... what has nothing of info.
