this discussion was triggered by me a few months ago too. Check out some of the back dated posts in this forum and you will find the answer. Good tips and answers were post by Reg Sniff. He helped me a lot with his valuable knowledge. Thanks again Reg!

If this is a PI coil, one way is to measure the inductance with an LCR meter. Then pulse the coil without a damping resistor. The coil will ring at its resonant frequency which you can measure using a scope. With a known inductance and a known resonant frequency you can readily calculate the capacitance by manipulating the formula, frequency equals 1 over (2 Pi)times( the square root of (LC)). Use the same cable you intend to use in the final assembly since the capacitance of the cable will also be a major factor. Hope this helps.
