Hays Electronics coil housings

Hi,
does anyone have any experience using Hays DD PI coil housings? I need to know if the ones recommended for DD winding can be also used for making a mono coil? This is NOT for use on a Minelab detector. Cheers, Dwt

I've used their coils. You can use the housings for both DD and mono.

thanks for your reply. Anyone else had any experience with making mono's out of (supposedly) DD housings? I would imagine that it just means that a portion of the housing is not used....correct? Is it that simple? Cheers, Dwt

I've use the 11" mono coil housing and it work nicely. I imagine the DD housing can be used for a mono too, just wind the coil to a diameter that will fit in the outer channel.

Hi DWT,

I have used a wide variety of Hay's housings for both mono and DD when the housing will allow. So, yes, I have used housings primarily made for DD's to make mono's. In fact, the 11 by 8/1/2 is one of my favorites.

I had to go to yahoo.com and send an email to theirs from that site and it sent it. I have heard no reply yet-could be the holidays. By trying to send it from their site, it would not go.

Yes I have purchased a number of his fine coil housings recently as last month.
This mail address has got thru ok. the one listed on the website returns an undeliverable mail message. Try the above,you may be in luck?

Update: All the various sources give the Hays email address as [email protected] . I've sent a total of four emails and each time got a "Mail delivery failed" response. However, I have now received a reply from Bill Hays, which means that at least one got through somehow. Anyway, having established contact I will airmail an order to him tomorrow. As they say, all's well that ends well.

check the codes as per Bill Hays website for pictures.

Hi Guys,

I contacted Bill Hays and notified him of the email's appearing to be sent back. What I found out is Bill changed internet providers and for some reason his business email was being sent to both his new provider and his old provider. The one going to the old provider was being bounced back.

So, you should get a message back from Bill if you send again. If you do not, let me know and I will call him.

I do know he has had some personal issues that have taken up some of his time and probably will for a while. So, please be patient.

Who hasn't heard from him. Post again and I will send him a link.

On a different note, Bill is making a couple new larger housings. I just received prototype of his new 16" round housing built much like is "A". This housing can be used for either a mono or a DD. This size is one that some people have been asking for.
