  • concentric coil on a low freq tec

Hi, I have a low freq metal detector, it comes as standard with a 9 inch DD coil,

Low freq tecs handle minreliastion better than high freq tecs, so would switching to a concentric coil be a bad thing??

I am thinking on the lines that I dont really need the DD coil to handle min soil, as it is low freq.

    What do you think

    sorry for spelling, am Dyslexic

What is the make and model of the detector?

I have no firsthand experience with an XP Adventis 2. However, I would expect the concentric coil to work absolutely fine in UK soil conditions. Pinpointing should be easier as well. Perhaps a metal detector shop, such as Joan Allen or Regton, would let you test one with your detector.

A DD coil does better than a concentric with mineralization regardless of frequency. So if you have high mineralization, then stick with the DD. If not, the concentric may be a little easier to use.
