  • Looking for a damaged cold for Garrett SeaHunter Mk II

Does anyone have a damaged coil for the SeaHunter Mk II they are willing to sacrifice in the name of science?

Or if anyone has ever disected one, would you be willing to share your findings?

Hey Carl, I left you a message today! Check your answering machine!

I want to find out if there is or isn't electronic components in the coil? Was told by Garrett tech today that there was. They informed me that there was a guy in Australia who had designed some coils and was burning up the electronics in the Sea Hunter and they were swamped with repairs from his design.

I am still using the underwater probe I built and it seems to be working fine (it rings a little even after the object is removed from detection range) , but didn't want to fry anything if I can help it!

      Have you ever disected one?

I posted on the other thread to benhur about the schematic for the Infinium, do you have a copy?

I've never dug into the Infinium. On the coil, I was not aware there is any electronics. There are separate TX & RX windings even in the mono coil, and since you can measure their inductances directly I can't imagine there is much chance of damage from a homemade coil. In fact, I have traced out the front end of a Sea Hunter II and it is set up to drive ordinary coils.

Sorry I missed your call, I was working in another bldg today until late.
