Filler for coil enclosure

In place of epoxy resin i use polyester filler used for repair the aumobile body :

Just my opinion, I like the way that Ivconic's version has the shaft connection point right in the center, and I like the way that Carl's version has the half-moon holes filled in and the cable pigtail is moved closer to the shaft connection.

I'm curious about answers to the foam filler question as well.

Foam filler for coils

Just my opinion, I like the way that Ivconic's version has the shaft connection point right in the center, and I like the way that Carl's version has the half-moon holes filled in and the cable pigtail is moved closer to the shaft connection.

I'm curious about answers to the foam filler question as well.

When mixing micro balloons it is important to use a low viscosity resin so that more filler can be added to make the resulting foam like paste still fluid.
You can also use Phenolic micro spheres, but there are restrictions for shipping is some regions.

Here is first prototype of handmade coil enclosure. I gave Carl's and my draws to one friend and he made something between.
It is polyester set (plastic fiber net and poly. resin mixed with hardener).
Finally it was painted with several layers of different colors, to look a bit "millitiary"....! That's why those black "reliefs" are visible... Camera is bad, in nature this enclosure looks fantastic!
After all - not bad at all!

? the first idea:
" use same enclosure for both; DD and coplanar coil. Why making many simillar models, why not use one universal enclosure and cover most of coil types?"
This enclosure existe in the bulgarian shops for 2-3 e

Nice Job. Looks everybit as good as the manufactured pros might make. But I like the color of yours better. Please keep up the good work. You inspire me to dig out my electronics training and see if it still works. A lot of years since I used it.

Yes, this was just experiment, to check materials and procedure. Now we can make any other model...

It look like you guys did a good job with it. Do you have an estimate on the cost of your supplies to make one?

I had thought about trying vacuum forming to make coil housings, but I don't think my wife would appreciate me putting ABS plastic in our kitchen oven.
