  • S.E.F. coils field test

I am not sure if this was posted in the past. For sure it is nice article, no harm to post it again.
Just curious; who is producing these coils? Are S.E.F. and Excellerator coils manufacturer is one and the same? Where is located? Europe? USA? UK? East?
Searching the internet i could find only sketchy and misty infos.

I have 8 Excellerator coils now. Various sizes and for different md models.
One thing i am sure; those are superior over original coils which came with device initially.
For example; i have my own direct experiences with Excellerator coils for Musketeer and Explorer SE.
Explorer SE have 30% (least) improved performances with Excellerator coil, comparing to original coil.
Walking on the real terrain and testing both coils i have experience which was fantastic. 9 silver coins were scattered arround on 3x3 meters area. Depths were from 30-45cm !!! Original coil was 12" original, came with it. Nothing detected at than area with original coil (few suspectable signals which i usually skip and do not dig). Than coil switched with Excellerator 10" x 14" (36cm x 25.5cm) and all 9 coins were detected!!! Loud and clear! Sensitivity was to 27, meaning it was pretty "hot" and therefore produced concomitant weak audios with moderate threshold (best depths with SE always achieved when machine is adjusted hot). Recovery set to fast (!).
I am not very familliar with SE (not an expert). But that time i took it from my brother in law for whole day to test those new coils.
Recovering those silver coins i was delited with depths!!! Wow!
SE is real coin killer with this coil, although coil dimensions are rather large for my taste and prospecting habits...

Also checked 2 Excellerator coils with Musketeer. Some improvements also but not that great as on SE previousy. I guess original 18cm and 25cm Musketeer coils are best made possible, hard to beat. But 36cm and 45cm Excellerator coils are very deep! Very, very deep!

So having all this infos...i am wandering about technology involved in Excellerator coils making?
Something special or just neat and precise work?

There is an opposite view on new Detech SEF coils here:

          http://www.xs4all.nl/~pa4tu/metal-detecting/documents/test_detech.pdf

But Excelerator in my experience (i have one 5" for Whites) is really great.

"....From a coil that is much larger than the standard
coil I would expect a considerable depth
advantage. There is however no indication that
the Detech coil performs better than the
standard coil in this respect. The coil's bad
stability and weight is another drawback.
The Detech coil performs better on fields where
there is much iron, e.g. on habitation hotspots.
Because of the larger area that the coil covers
            more finds will be retrieved.
From all the claims that Detech writes about this
coil, only ground balancing is better. There is no
depth gain, worse stability and equal pinpointing
and target identification as compared to the
            standard coil...."

            This looks like "anticampaign"!
Various people - various experiences. Various md models - various improvements (or not).
I can't really say about Fisher F series at all. Personally i don't consider F series as real Fishers at all!
