  • Some technical coil shield questions.

If I have in my electronic a virtual ground for the OPAMPS where should I connect the coil shield? Should I connect the shield at the minus pole of the battery or at the virtual ground of the OPAMPS? The virtual ground and the minus pole of the battery are not directly connected. Which one is the better connection point to connect the coil shield to the electronic?

Another question is… How wide should I make the air gap in the coil shield? Let’s say the coil is 10 inch in diameter? Is there a formula to calculate this? How does the air gap width affect the sensitivity of a coil?

Re: Some technical coil shield questions.

If you circuit is with virtual ground you have to connect you shield to this GND.Is better to use for RX and TX coils two different ,with two wire, shielded cables and connect these shields to the ground on the main board.Don't do mistake to connect them on search head.
For the shield gap size is not important. In my construction is 10 mm .
