Hey Reg, some how I have the 18 inch Mono coil working good at 10us with a nice threshold, I don't know what I did but it works fine after I shielded the coil with Scotch 24 tape. I wrapped the coil wires with a Polytek tape an than shielded with scotch 24, should I wrap the shielding with the same tape. My iron test I was using was with a 1/3 of a civil war cannon ball about the size of a softball, with the TDI I am going to use it in all metal mode for battlefield hunting. The TDI picked the fragment up at 33 inches with a good sounding tone. Lamar (Thanks for the help Reg)

It is good to hear that your using of Scotch24 as a shield allowed you to operate the TDI at a 10us delay. Here is a prime example of where the theory of reducing coil capacitance through making the shield have less coil-to-shield capacitance helps out. It allows the reality of larger coils on the TDI to work at lower delays when using Teflon insulated wire and the proper coil construction techniques. Nice job!
