Lorenz x3 is a good machine with a "good" discrimination. It is a difficult detector. I believe that TDI is a bit more sensitive than X3. I have not tried it with 2x2 coil.

Hello Geo and quizo and everybody.
I purchased a used tdi that came with the original coil, a smaller, a larger homemade DD and a homemade 1x1 (without the frame for shipping purposes) and I have to say that it is very good. So much more enjoyable than the pulse 8x I once had. Iy is nice that it can switch from high to low conductivity, takes out most of the iron when set a low, though today I do find old rusty pot shards at the low setting. Must be the rust?
Found peice of copper plate, about a pound, lots of old iron, gotta use the low just to keep from going crazy.
I haven't used the1x1 yet, need to put a frame together, but I did spread it out and tested it, seems to work just fine.
A really nice machine, and I thank the seller for all the good stuff, and the those that helped me to make an informed purchase. Now for pirate treasure! muahahahaha!

          Hi.
When you use the 1x1 m coil you must have large cable and to keep the TDI far because the coil detects very easy the metalic box. Also you must move the coil or you can walk a little quick.

          Regards

Thanks Geo, I had heard about the box, but not the moving, which makes sense. Once I do the smaller coil survey to see what is where, I'll take the time to assemble the big one and pass THAT around. At least that will be my beginning strategy.
I'll let everyone know how it performs.
            Thanks.

No, a coil that large for the DFX won't work well.

Good to know that the ML coils are compatible with TDI and the connector,, thanks. Do you know how the Coiltek Big Red 12" x 24" DD would perform on the TTI at 10u? I have heard that it's a problem for big coils at this low setting. The DD is apparently neccessary here in BC due to mineralization thatches OZ look tame.

did you just hardwire it to you maching and tie it to the pvc frame or did you run it through the pipe?
