  • FAULTY EAGLE EYE

    Hello everybody,

I have a faulty coil for my GTI 2500. When the sun shines over the eagle eye coil, it becomes warm and starts malfuctioning. Aparently it works fine, but when I push the "TARGET IMAGING" key to pinpoint with the front coil only, it gives me an overload signal, no matter if the coil is near ground or up in the air. When it cools in the shadow, away from the sun, it works fine again. A russian technician told me to place (in theory) an external variable condenser in the wire, near the plug, but since neither one had the schematic for the eagle eye, the project reached a dead end. I though of just buying a new eagle eye, but the one I have is somehow operating, and a new one (with S/H to Ecuador, SouthAmerica) will cost around 400 dollars (that´s about a monthly salary down here).

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Cholo, Try to determine if the problem is in the induction balance. For test you need a rod from ferrite antena. You should move the rod above RX coil (around position A) and below it (around position B) and watch if the problem disappears.
