why in minelab FBS 8 coil metal wire?

  • why in minelab FBS 8 coil metal wire?

    Hello all experts. I opened my one 8 FBS coil and found under coil top plastic cover 3 inch long metal wire. my question why Minelab putted hear wire and why only around 3 inches? thank you alllll! Stasys

    Could be a earthwire that is connected to the shielding. Could be why it is only 3" long.

      I think that the coil has outside a graphite layer. So if the wire is connected to gnd then it is the shielding wire of the coil. If nothing is connected to the wire, then i don't know

        wire not conected just secured in the outside case before covered with grafite painting and pored coil, coil works without and dont see any problem. but why they putted it should be some answer. thank you Stasys

          I did not see any wire same with it when i opened my Tornado 10" coil.
          Maybe Carl or Reg knows the answer!!!!

            Is the plastic case made from conductive plastic, like that used for electronic component anti-static boxes? A simple multimeter test should confirm this. You wont always notice if such shielding is missing, until you try it in difficult conditions, such as long wet grass, when it could false-trigger excessively. Regards.

              Its put there for extra wight because they didnt think it was heavy enough for you hahaha lol
