whites 2900 d coil question

Giving a whites 2900 d trooper to my nephew. Its a tr machine...6.59 khz. Can it use a coil made for a 5900, 6000 machine? Or are the coil specs & design way different?

I want the kid to understand tr & see if he's interested before getting him something different.
