  • Whites 3900/D PRO PLUS (or any 6 kHz Whites) DD Coil - how to make one?

Hello, I would like to get a DD coil for my detector. I have access to two original concentric coils - 8" and 15". Based on this, how can I make my own DD coil (or adapt an existing one from a different detector)? These Whites coils - do they have any other components than wire inside?

I also have a cheap Velleman CS120, which is a re-housed Bounty Hunter or similar chinese design. Not bad, but its small coils is calling for a larger sister - preferably a DD.

    Any help appreciated

Take look at Whites Coinmaster 6000/D schematics, I think it's available somewhere on this forum, the coil circuit is included. Should be very similar to the 3900/D coil, at least to the older revision, I took a quick look at the photos and it looks the same, perhaps it's the same coil.
Unfortunately the coil contains tuning capacitors, also the mechanical design is very important to achieve null-point.
I have photos of the inside design of 6000/D's coil I made during repair, is it allowed to post them on forum ?

It is only copyrighted material that is not allowed to be posted in the forums. Photos and back-engineered schematics are perfectly acceptable.

According to Whites, it is the same coil, thanks - I forgot about the other models. I do not know if it is worth something to make a new coil, though. The 3900 got today badly beaten by my CS1MX. I have not had searched all the area with the 3900 (but most of it) to clean it from coins. Then I got some deeper coins with the CS1 in the same area. I also do not like the common discrimination/g.e.b. knob.
